NOTES FROM THE ROAD
The Best New Talent Team is on the road again! Our first round of auditions will take place in Orlando and Madison on Feb. 21. We are so excited to kick this year off with new cites and added categories. Be sure to check back with us each month for feature photos of our most memorable auditions.
And as we gear up for our end of the audition process, we'd like to share with you a few audition tips that just might lead to your success:
Get your eyes up off the page! If you are doing a cold reading, meaning you have not memorized the material, glance down for the line and then make sure you take your eyes up off the page to deliver. Find a spot at eye level behind your auditioners and deliver you lines to that spot. It is better to flub up the line looking up than to say the text correctly while we watch the top of your head!
Sing the best part first! Don't wait till the end of the song to show off the strongest part of your voice. In the first round of auditions, we aren't looking for artistic expression; we want to know if you can sing. So start wherever your song demands the most impressive and difficult vocal skills. Blow us away!
Dance the best part first! Again, we are not judging our first round of auditions based on artistic expression; we want to see if you can dance. So show us your best turns, kicks, and leaps. Pull out all your tricks!
He's got personality! Hosting is all about personality. It isn't about remembering what to say but working off the people around you!
Strut your stuff! When doing your model walk, remember, confidence is everything. Take it slow and smile.
Material that suites you. When picking a monologue for your audition, please keep it age appropriate, G rated and 1 minute.
HAVE FUN!
