Do I need a make a demo to get signed with a record label?
Making a demo is good because microphone time is important but a demo is not the only way to get attention.
I.e. Showcases, contests and performing where the right people are.
How important is it that I dance if I want to be a professional singer?
Don't have to, but what is important is your confidence on stage and selling the song. If dance lessons will help you
with physical performance - do it.
How do I find good original songs?
Major labels even have a hard time. Finding originals is not an easy task. You need to hunt for new
songwriters through music publications (in the back). Go to showcases for new songwriters and check your local
collage or high school "Music Dept". Happy hunting!
When showcasing for a label is it better to sing and unknown song or a well known song?
Labels love to hear original songs, hoping to hear a hit. But if you don't have a hot song better to sing a
great cover that makes you sound fantastic.
